- SFC and HKMA conclude joint consultation on amendments to Clearing Rules for over-the-counter derivative transactions
The SFC and the HKMA “aim to bring the amendments into effect on 1 March 2027”, and the proposed approach is “to be effective from 1 March 2027 onwards”.
July 2027 1
- SFC mandates phishing-resistant authentication methods for internet brokers and VATPs to protect client accounts
Internet brokers and VASPs are expected to implement robust authentication solutions ... as soon as practicable and in any event, no later than 8 July 2027 (ie, within 12 months from the date of this circular).

- SFC reprimands and fines Victory Securities Company Limited $1.7 million and suspends its responsible officer for regulatory breaches
The SFC has also suspended the licence of Mr Stephen Chiu Che Leung, a responsible officer (RO) and manager-in-charge (MIC) of Victory, for three months from 22 July 2026 to 21 October 2026.

The 13 sponsors that received a joint letter from the SFC and SEHK in December 2025 ... as well as sponsors with strained resources, are required to complete comprehensive reviews ... within three months.

- SFC and HKMA jointly consult on standard calculation periods under OTC derivative Clearing Rules
Interested parties are invited to submit comments to the SFC or HKMA by 27 February 2026.

- FSTB and SFC conclude consultations on virtual asset dealer and custodian regimes, further consult on two new regimes
Interested parties are invited to submit comments on the proposed VA advisor and manager regimes to the FSTB or the SFC by 23 January 2026.
